The Fab Lab culture consists of a vast global movement – supported by principles codified in the late nineties of the twentieth century in the Center for Bits and Atoms of the MIT in Boston – that in its declination of collective phenomenon is configured both as an interesting mode of contemporary living, and as a vehicle of cultural heritage. Fab Labs are physical places where creative, educational and cultural processes are shared, combining craftsman knowledge and innovation: they are connected in a global network and replicated in the urban pattern, enhancing its ethical and social potentiality. Through micro-narrations the contribution proposes a cognitive investigation of the Fab Lab phenom-enon with the aim of representing – mapping / observing / understanding – the complexity of the interactions between the processes of the Fab Lab culture and contemporary living.
