Drawing on recent studies on corpora in language teaching, this article presents the direct and indirect uses of the specialized corpus IT_SEAH for the design of Italian language learning modules in the field of Architecture and Construction. Therefore, the language teaching activities developed in the SEAH project on passive diathesis will be illustrated, with a focus on auxiliary verbs, in order to provide an example of the different corpus applications. Although the passive diathesis is generally addressed in syllabi and coursebooks for advanced learners, its occurrence in IT_SEAH has led to its inclusion in the SEAH language modules, which are designed for low-intermediate learners from the B1 proficiency level of the CEFR. Through activities based on the data-driven learning approach, learners are asked to recognize examples for each auxiliar verb and to identify their different meanings.
