This paper analyzes the revisitation of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in the work of Cesare Pavese. In the pages of L’Inconsolabile, one of the most significant passages of Dialoghi con Leucò (1947), the author elaborates the story of the young man in a modern key, at least partially overlapping his own human experience. Also through meditation on some passages of Il mestiere di vivere, I will try to prove that the only way of salvation for the human being lies in the abandonment of the beloved woman, Euridice; since only in this way it is possible to achieve the acceptance of one's own destiny
