In the fast-changing environment, organizations need to be agile in innovating and adapting their business processes and operations. Agility is a fundamental capability in companies that want to exploit the full potential of digital innovation in their operations. Drawing on an action research study, the purpose of this study is to answer the research question of how organizations achieve operational agility. By using action research methodology, we not only solve the real problem of a pharmaceutical firm, but also expand our understanding and literature. We discuss the problem, actions, reflections and lessons learned from two interventions aimed at improving process innovation in the pharmaceutical company.

Abstract
