Starting from the essentially fugal, i.e. contrapuntal structure of Heidegger's famous essay The Origin of the Work of Art, this paper undertakes an analysis of the four terms that support its discourse (work of art, art, artist-creator, preserver), in order to bring out the crucial role of preserving as a space of oscillation of art, also thanks to a specific exam of the enunciative apparatus of the heideggerian essay.
