Objectives: this paper describes an experience based on the technique Objective Structured Video Examination (OSVE), an innovative methodology to assess educational and communicative competencies, within a multidisciplinary course in Behavioral Sciences held in a Dentistry School. Methods: this experience is framed within the process of curricular innovation planned at the University of Milan and is linked to the CompHP framework, defined by the International Union for Health Promotion and Education. The OSVE technique is the viedeo-based version of OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination); in this paper, it will be introduced as a strategy for assessment of educational/ communication skills. Results: the OSVE implementation within the university setting fostered a reflection on how to assess specific competences, such as communication and health education, in a clinical environment, and how to document those activities for the international accreditation system. Conclusions: Weakness and strengths of using videos as an assessment tool will be discussed with not only reference to the Behavioral Sciences course, but also to other curricula, where educational, communicative and relational competencies need to be assessed. Weaknesses are mainly related to the video making and to the possibility to use instruments, in communication/educational skills training, which are consistent with those later employed for assessment.

Abstract
Weaknesses are mainly related to the video making and to the possibility to use instruments, in communication/educational skills training, which are consistent with those later employed for assessment.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
