On the Use of equoreo in Gabriele d’Annunzio · The aim of the article is to investigate the use of the adjective equoreo (marine, flat surface) in d’Annunzio. This is a linguistically confirmed practice of the author from Pescara ; he frequently retrieves scholarly words (mainly of Latin derivation) and adapts them to his own literary contexts. Starting from the etymology of the adjective, research on his early use of equoreo is presented first of all ; a study follows of its use, both in d’Annunzio and in other Italian writers.
