The paper intends to investigate the reasons why the theme of dwelling has been neglected or misunderstood in the less recent Italian Heideggerian historiography, posing the question of whether this philosophical problem is to be understood as external to the Sache of Heideggerian thinking, or whether it follows its movements and evolutions. The interpretation presented is that dwelling appears to be one of the possible declinations of the question of being, and the article attempts to account for this through an analysis of the phenomenon of play. However, the conclusion does not lead one to consider Heidegger a philosopher of dwelling
