The paper explores the historical and architectural significance of the tobacco factories in the Sele Plain, with a focus on the case of the Salvati factory in Fiocche (Eboli), emblematic of a now concluded productive era. Through the analysis of its building morphology and relationship with the surrounding territory, these industrial structures are revealed as material and identity-bearing heritage assets of remarkable value. While the current state of partial abandonment raises questions regarding their future use, it also opens up promising scenarios for cultural repurposing. The contribution advocates for the recovery of these architectures as active instruments of urban and social regeneration, embedded in a broader vision grounded in the transmission of memory and the generation of new collective meanings.

Abstract
The paper explores the historical and architectural significance of the tobacco factories in the Sele Plain, with a focus on the case of the Salvati factory in Fiocche (Eboli), emblematic of a now concluded productive era. Through the analysis of its building morphology and relationship with the surrounding territory, these industrial structures are revealed as material and identity-bearing heritage assets of remarkable value. While the current state of partial abandonment raises questions regarding their future use, it also opens up promising scenarios for cultural repurposing. The contribution advocates for the recovery of these architectures as active instruments of urban and social regeneration, embedded in a broader vision grounded in the transmission of memory and the generation of new collective meanings.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
