Surveying the Urban Walls of Marrakech. Drawing and photography for the fruition and enhancement of the historical heritage.

The contribution proposes some results of a multidisciplinary investigation still ongoing concerning the “Monitoring of the Urban Walls of Marrakech” as a part of a collaboration agreement between the Department of Architecture of the ‘Gabriele d’Annunzio’ University Chieti-Pescara and the ENAM École Nationale d’Architecture de Marrakech. The aim of the research is to define methodologies for the knowledge, the enhancement and the maintenance of this Unesco world heritage site. An integrated surveying campaign as an open system of knowledge is proposed. The methodological approach is based on the interaction between the disciplines of architectural Drawing and Photography, understood as a transdisciplinary modality for the reading, analysis and representation of the existing in its material and immaterial qualities, in its cultural dynamics and processes, whether analog or digital.
