Multiscale Documentation and Programmed Conservation for the Walls of Marrakesh's Historical Heritage.

The protection, conservation and enhancement of the architectural and cultural heritage of the Marrakesh Walls requires a multidisciplinary approach that combines metric and qualitative analysis. The research concerning the "Monitoring of the Urban Walls of Marrakesh" is part of a collaboration agreement between the Department of Architecture of the "G. d'Annunzio" University Chieti-Pescara and the École Nationale d'Architecture de Marrakesh. The goal of the study is a survey model in which the integration of direct and instrumental methodologies leads to the conservation and management of this heritage. Due to its size, this defensive system of over 19 km requires analysis and management methodologies that are easy to learn and low-cost. This methodological approach allows to the construction of an easily manageable database for the adequate management and maintenance over time of this vast cultural heritage.
