Musealizzare il ricordo

Il cimitero, luogo identitario della città, della sua storia, della sua evoluzione sociale e culturale, è costituito da singoli elementi capaci di esprimere la loro unicità attraverso forma e materiale. Nella triade monumento-memoria-marmo si sintetizza il ruolo del monumento sepolcrale e del materiale “illustre” ad esso associato. La crisi di identità dello spazio urbano della città contemporanea, si riverbera anche nel cimitero: si assiste ad un fenomeno tendenzialmente invo- lutivo in cui sembra prevalere un pericoloso processo di massificazione. Recuperare la qualità del “luogo” significa riconoscere le identità degli elementi percettivi dello spa- zio, ma anche individuare le opportunità offerte dall’innova- zione dei processi realizzativi. The cemetery, identity place of the city, of its history, of its social and cultural evolution, it is made up of single elements capable of expressing their uniqueness through form and material. The role of the sepulchral monument and the “illus- trious” material associated with it is summarized in the triad of monument-memory-marble. The identity crisis of the urban space of the contemporary city rebounds in the cemetery too: we are witnessing a tendentially involutionary phenome- non in which a dangerous process of standardization seems to prevail. Recovering the quality of the “place” means recog- nizing the identities of the perceptive elements of the space, but also identifying the opportunities offered by the innova- tion of the manufacturing processes.
